On Monday, August 30, over 135 friends and family of Pixie McGeachie came together in the Tram Barn to celebrate her accomplishments and rich life. As the weather cooperated beautifully, the tram was pulled out and the barn was transformed into a beautiful setting for the event. Tom did a great job as MC and many people came forward to share their experiences with Pixie. Shirley provided colourful bouquets from our gardens and the ICP served a beautiful buffet. In attendance, among others, were Mayor Corrigan, former Mayor Dave Mercier, former Chairman of Century Park Committee Don Copan and his wife, BHS Past-President Carol Rush, BC Historical Federation Past-Presidents Alice Glanville and Ron Hyde, former Citizen of the Year Ruby Johnson, Helen Brown, wife of Burnaby Freeman Don Brown, Denis Nokony, and Burnaby Heritage Commission member and author Harry Pride.
We think Pixie would have liked it.
Many thanks for the great set-up and to all who participated.
