Fun & Games for the whole Summer

The theme for the new year is Fun & Games. There is a new focus every two weeks for the entire summer. To date the schedule looks like this:

Team sports May 2 – 16
Learn more about some of Burnaby’s Sports teams of yesteryear and try out some of the equipment to see if you could have made the team.

Lawn Sports May 17 - 30
Even if you are not dressed all in white you can join in the fun on weekends and afternoons and try some lawn games such as croquet, lawn tennis, bocce, golf and lawn bowling.

Martial Arts May 31 - Jun 13
Martial Arts demonstrations such as tai chi, karate, and judo will be featured at the museum, come and see and perhaps even try.

Music & Dance June 14 - 27
Enjoy dance & music such as bangra, charleston, belly dancing, Scottish dancing, International Folk Dancing, harmonica playing, fiddlers, a xylophone group, whistling and more.

Taking Aim June 28 - July 11
Perfect aim is not required to enjoy demonstrations and maybe even try activities such as archery, fencing, quoits, and horseshoes.

Disc Sports July 12 - 25
Learn the humble start of frisbee and how it has risen into frisbee golf, frisbee baseball and so much more.

Water Sports and Auto Courts July 26 – Aug 8
Take part in the fun and excitement of a drive out to the lake. See what auto camping was all about, what to pack for a perfect picnic in the past, and have a look at some swimsuits thru the ages.

Wheeled Sports Aug 9 - 22
Bikes, trikes, skateboards, roller skates, motorbikes, and cars will be featured at the Museum.

Schoolyard Games Aug 23 - Sept 7
Become the king of the schoolyard, before you head back to school. Try out, and get lots of practice in, all the popular schoolyard games of the past such as skipping, hopscotch, 4-square, jacks, stilts, marbles, and yo-yo's
